1st Grade Science
In first grade, students will develop essential knowledge and skills as they engage in multiple experiences in science.  As they investigate earth, life, and physical science, they will have the opportunity to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving strategies.

The topics for first grade are new plants, solids and liquids, and weather.

In the new plant unit, children will learn that all living things have basic needs and that they change overtime.  Living things depend upon one another and upon non-living aspects of the environment.

In the solid and liquid unit, children will learn how to describe and classify according to physical properties.

In the weather unit, children will learn about various types of weather and how it affects people and the environment.
